ONE vs. TWO

Any state which exists produces potential for its opposite. The longer it lasts, the greater the necessity of its opposite. Even though, as a general rule, the likelihood of the reversal increases with time, it may not be possible to pinpoint its precise timing in any particular case.

It may not be easy to establish just how much pressure has to build up to overcome the unknown amount of resistance needed to trigger the shifting of the polarities. It is, however, perfectly safe to assert that given unlimited time, any existing condition will tend to change diametrically.

The conversion from one opposite to another is a twofold process: in stage one imperceptibly small changes gradually tip the balance towards the other extreme, in stage two a sudden and radical shift takes place.
